Information desks are located in Terminal 1 (Old Airport) as well as in Terminal 2 in the arrival and departure halls and in the transit area. Flight information (Tel: (02) 265 50 00 (Terminal 1) is available around the clock.

Directions:

The airport is accessible from downtown Cairo via the 6th October Bridge and the Salah Salem / Al-Orouba Road leading to Heliopolis. The airport and Heliopolis are well signposted from the city center. A toll is charged for access to the airport, which however includes 3 hours of free parking at the airport.

Transfer between the terminals:

A free shuttle bus from the Cairo Airport Authority connects the terminals. The bus runs around the clock every 30 minutes. In addition, an automated people mover runs between the terminals. The Seasonal Terminal is right next to Terminal 3.

Public transportation

Public transport – street:

Bus : The air-conditioned Airport Shuttle Bus (Tel: 19970) runs every 30 minutes from Terminal 1 to the center of Cairo, to Heliopolis, Nasr-City, Giza, Haram (pyramids) and other destinations.

In addition, a number of public buses run to Cairo city center, Upper Egypt and Alexandria, among others. The bus stop is in the parking lot in front of Terminal 1.

Shuttle bus : Shuttle buses connect the airport with Heliopolis and the center of Cairo. Travel time: 45 minutes. Travel costs: £ 35.

Taxi: Taxis and limousines are available to drive from the airport to Cairo city center. Black Mercedes limousines and black and white taxis depart from the arrival hall. Travelers should take licensed taxis. A taxi ride to the center costs around £ 80 (journey time to the center: 30-60 minutes). The fare should be negotiated before departure if the taxi has no taximeter. Newer taxis usually have a taximeter.

Money:

The airport has banks and several ATMs in Terminals 1 and 2. There are 24-hour exchange offices in the departure halls of all terminals.

Means of communication:

Post offices are located in the departure halls of Terminals 1 and 3, and mailboxes are available in both the departure and arrival halls. Public telephones are available. Free internet access via W-LAN is available in Terminal 1 in the check-in area, transit area, at the gates, in the cafes, restaurants and lounges as well as in the Air Mall.

Gastronomy:

There is a large selection of restaurants. Bars are located in the departure halls of Terminals 1 and 3 and are open around the clock.

Shopping:

In the departure halls of Terminals 1 and 3 and in the transit hall there are gift shops, clothing stores, book stores, newsstands and duty-free shops.

Luggage:

Luggage trolleys and carriers are available. Luggage storage is available in Terminals 1 and 3 and a lost property office in Terminal 1 (Tel: +20 2 2265 5246).

Other facilities:

Pharmacies are located in the departure halls of Terminal 1 and 3. Smoking rooms are signposted.

Conference and meeting rooms:

There is a business center in Terminal 1, which is connected to the new transit hall by an escalator. There is also a business center with several conference rooms at Le Méridien Cairo Airport (Tel: (02) 226 596 00; Internet:  www.starwoodhotels.com), which is connected to Terminal 3 via a pedestrian bridge. Additional business facilities and conference rooms are available at the Novotel Cairo Airport Hotel (Tel: (02) 91 85 20; Internet: www.novotel.com).

Accessibility facilities:

Wheelchairs are available on request and there are disabled toilets. Disabled passengers should notify their airline in advance of their specific needs. There are no reserved parking spaces for the disabled.

Parking spaces:

A parking lot with short-term and long-term parking spaces is in front of Terminal 1 (Old Airport), near Terminal 2 there are 4 parking spaces with 4000 parking spaces. The car park near Terminal 2 is connected to Terminals 1 and 3 by the automated people mover. Short-term parking costs £ 5 / hour.

Car rental:

The car rental companies Avis, Budget, Sixt and Hertz are represented at the airport.
